Dictionary is an app that comes in handy for writers, students and anyone who likes learning about words because it puts definitions at your fingertips.

Have you ever found yourself reading a book or looking at an article online and coming across a word that you didn't quite understand? Maybe you had a definition for that word in your mind that doesn't match the way the author used it. You can now use this app to find out what that word really means.

One nice feature about Dictionary is that it lets you choose one of seven languages to use and search for words in that language. The default language is UK English though, and it does not have an American English option. This can make it hard to find certain words because you aren't sure how to spell those words. The app does a good job of finding the right word though.

Another helpful feature is its predictive text option. When you enter a letter in the search box, the app brings up a list of words that matches those letters. As soon as you find the right word, you can click directly on it and load its definition and some other basic information instead of typing out the full word. It even shows you a number at the bottom of the screen to tell you exactly how many words it found.

Some words listed in the app include a formal declaration of what it is like telling you that the word is a noun or a verb. It then gives you an exact definition for that word. If the word has more than one definition, the app will show you the most commonly accepted one first. It will then separate out any of the other definitions to help you see how others might use that word.

This app is so easy to use that anyone in your family can use it, including younger kids working on school projects and teenagers or college students doing papers for school. You can double click to load it and close it via the button on the top right of the screen. It has a maximize setting that significantly increases its size, which makes it easier for you to view all the words on your screen. You can also use this app as a translation tool and find out what a foreign language word means in English. Dictionary may not replace other apps and programs on your computer but will come in handy when writing and translating.
